About

Hi there!  I'm Mekelle Wood.  I am a wife, mother, and videographer.  This blog is to share the fun things of my cute family, share my videos and to write some thoughts I have.

-------THE FAMILY-------
I just love my family.  They are my everything and make my world go round.

NICK:  This guy is the hardest working man I know.  He is still in school in the extremely hard major of architecture.  He attends the University of Utah and is about to graduate with his Bachelor's and then in the fall he starts the graduate program.  He works so hard and often times doesn't get home from school till around midnight if not later.  He is a rockstar.  Also my best friend and quite the hunk if I do say so myself ;)

ZANE: This little boy is so full of energy and laughs.  He is almost three and is always on the move.  He often times tires my patience but is my best little buddy.  Not a day goes by that I don't laugh with him and smile because of his infectious personality.  He loves being outside, watching any sport and teasing everyone around him.  He would eat carrots all day if we would let him.  He is my little cutie.

STELLA: Our little lady...she is the cutest little girl with a head full of hair and big blue eyes.  She will be one in June but is very little.  She is obsessed with her brother.  Even when he hurst her, she quickly forgives and is laughing at him within 30 seconds.  She has a very determined personality doesn't take the word "no" lightly.  On the flip-side, she loves to tell us no.  Being the only girl on both sides of the family, she is one tough cookie.  Her smile brightens up a room and makes everyone around her smile.  This little girl makes our home a happier place.

-------MY VIDEO STORY-------
I haven't always been a videographer.  I use to teach elementary school.  When I was in 6th grade, I took a technology class and was introduced to filming and editing.  I loved it!  I was the one who would stay after school to help all my friends film their videos because they wanted to be in them, I just wanted to film.  I told my parents how much I loved video stuff and they told me about a TV broadcasting program in the high school that concentrated solely on that.  It then became more goal to take that class.  The teacher happened to by my backyard neighbor and told me that I could come into his classroom anytime to get a head start.  I went, very intimidated to be a little girl with all the high school students, but this is what I wanted to do.
I got my first video camera when I was 14 and carried that thing with me everywhere.
High school finally came and that was the first class I signed up for.  My senior year, I was able to go to New York City with the class to go behind the scenes of the big news stations like "Good Morning America", CBS and ABC.  It was a chance of a lifetime and I loved every freezing second of it!
I went to college and decided to major in Elementary Education.  Although I wasn't going into anything with video I still had my video camera in my hand.  I was able to do a study abroad in New Zealand and filled up more tapes with those adventures then I knew what to do with.  I taught for four years and then decided to quit and stay home with my two cute kids.  After a few months of staying home I realized that I LOVED being a stay-at-home mom but I needed something else.  I had been following many other videographers and would say to Nick, "This is what I want to do."  He, being the supportive husband he is, told me to go for it and chase after this dream that I have had for a long time.  So here I am.  Taking a leap of faith in this crazy dream and I can't wait to see where it takes me.

-------OUR LOVE STORY-------
Nick and I grew up in the same town, went to the same high school, graduated the same year, but never dated.  He had a few classes together and would talk and knew each other but we never hung out or anything.  It wasn't until after graduation that we became really good friends.  I needed another job to save up for college so I started working at our little hometown grocery market where he had been working for two years.  So we worked together all summer and had a fun time.  I thought he was cute but he had a girlfriend and I was going to college so I never pursued anything.  I left for college up at BYU-Idaho in the fall and he stayed home to work and save up for his LDS mission.  I came home at Christmas time and needed to work some more so I went back to the store and he was there still.  Another few weeks of fun.  He was getting ready to turn his papers in and I thought I was not going to see him again before he left.  So we said good-bye and I told him to call me and tell me where he was going when he got his call.  Sometime in February he got his call to serve in the England Birmingham mission and wasn't leaving until the end of June.  So April came around and I came home.  He had broken up with his girlfriend a few months before and we just hit it off.  Horrible timing on my part, I know...start dating someone two months before he left.  But great timing on his part because now he had someone to write him! For two months he dated and became very fond of each other.  A week before he left we had a talk and had decided that we weren't going to say I was waiting for him but we would just see what would happen.  After that talk though I had a very good feeling that I was going to wait for him and things would work out.  So he left and the writing began.  We fell in love through those letters.  I told him everything through length hilarious letters and tapes, and he told me stuff too through not so lengthy letters and tapes. I continued through college and traveling to pass the time.  Flash forward two years, he came home in June 2010, we picked up like he had never left, we got engaged in August and then we were married November 20, 2010 in the Salt Lake temple.  I love our story and love the life we have.
